Initially angered at her virginity, Christian then becomes baffled, though he doesn’t take this as another reason to ease up the pressure on her. Ana is still focused on the idea that somebody wants to have sex with her.

Ana’s classic non-answer, and mixed message, is just want you don’t do in negotiation, even in non-BDSM sex. This inability to express what she wants and doesn’t want is the source of so many problems in BDSM.
Christian immediately takes her to his bed, as if her virginity is something that needs to be corrected like a ruptured appendix.
What follows is a pretty standard, vanilla (i.e. non-BDSM) sex scene. This is, sort of, a better way to handle the situation: Christian holds off on the BDSM and instead has a familiar kind of sex with her, though I’m still bothered that Christian just can’t take his foot off the accelerator. The most D/s part is that Christian is definitely running the fuck, asking very little of her beyond her acquiescence.
I’m no expert on this, but I find it implausible that Ana, a woman so sexually inexperienced that she doesn’t even masturbate, has multiple shattering orgasms in her first sexual encounter.This seems to be how some people think female sexuality should operate: completely inert until she encounters the one man for her, and then somehow instantaneously becoming sexually passionate for him, which cements the bonds of heterosexual monogamy. Oh well, if reality was as good as fiction, we wouldn’t need fiction.
Afterwards, Ana wakes up and finds Christian playing the piano “sad and forlorn”. Straight out of Phantom of the Opera: very Gothic. Of course, this guy has some horrible secret haunting him. (There’s also a continuity error, in that he’s first described as nude, but then as wearing pyjama pants.)
