Dying for Sex S01E06 “Happy Holidays”

After Molly, Niki and Sonya celebrate the one-year anniversary of Molly’s cancer return, she has another dom-sub session with Neighbor Guy. Along the way, Molly gets turned on with him, but her anxiety returns, represented by a vision of a man with a blurry face. She partially opens up to Neighbor Guy about her childhood sexual abuse, and that she’s never had an orgasm with another person. She tells him she wants to try to orgasm with him, and he’s eager to help.
Molly continues going to treatment and group therapy. She also has sessions with Neighbor Guy, to get her used to other people touching her. However, when he tells her “I love you,” she has a panic attack, sees “the man with the blurry face”, and locks herself in her bathroom.
During a group therapy session, someone notices that Molly’s right leg is swollen. The doctor says she has blood clots in her leg, and she’ll have to spend the winter holidays in the hospital.
Instead of spending New Years in the hospital with Nikki, Molly checks herself out for a hookup with a man, much to Nikki’s anger. Molly gives a handjob to “Dojo Guy” in his car, who is unsympathetic when she loses sensation in her hand. She goes back to her apartment and talks with Niki, leading to a breakthrough.

Months later, Molly and Neighbor Guy cross paths on the sidewalk, just before Molly suddenly collapses. As he calls an ambulance, she is able to say she loves him and that they should love each other.
Most of this episode is about Molly’s struggle with her trauma from childhood, and Niki’s dependent relationship with her. Molly’s relationship with Neighbor Guy is put on hold once she checks into the hospital. I appreciate that her relationship with him is kinky and it has genuine passion and intimacy too.
